My instructor Sifu Erickson was watching me in class the other day and told me that I needed to stretch more if I wanted to get my outside crescent kick more fluid. Which seemed kind of odd to me at first since I can kick at least chest level. But what he was concerened about was the fluidity of my movement and not the hieght. So now I have been doing more stretches (thanks to a new machine I bought called the metal leg stretcher machine.) It is not real expensive but it is helping me with my groin stretch as that was the reason my kick was not very fluid.
